This work is a selection from the broad range of mediums and methods I like to use and combine in Art and Design; the majority from my Foundation course. My work is generally approached from an Art and Design perspective, and I aim for it to convey my vision and purpose for them through either their beautiful or experimental and thought provoking aesthetics.
In my current work at foundation level I am exploring ‘seascapes’ in a literal and abstract way, and have begun creating wooden and card sculptures as well as textured ceramic pieces and drawings and paintings. I am always striving to push myself outside of my comfort zone with my work, and create pieces that are original and exciting in themselves, and for me. This is particularly the case in my current project. My background in creative arts is based in Art and Design, and although some of my greatest experience is in the traditional artistic processes of drawing and painting, one of my biggest passions is ceramics, which I try to incorporate as often as possible into my bodies of work; and so have good experience with.

I was attracted to this Three Dimensional Design course by the extensive professional range of facilities I saw on the open day, the dedication of the tutors I encountered, and the highly skilled work of the students. I am excited by the possibilities in the diverse range of materials available, and keen to develop my own skills with mediums and diversify in my work.

I love working in an extensive range of mediums both 3D and 2D, and so I chose Fine Art for my art foundation pathway as felt this choice would provide me with the best opportunity to do so. To therefore develop my skills and body of work in ceramics as much as possible I have been attending ceramic workshops outside my course at an independent ceramics gallery (Torquil Gallery) as well as using the facilities of the ceramics department within college.
Although this may mean I am less experienced in working with a wide range Three Dimensional materials compared to other prospective students for this course, I feel I have the passion and dedication for practical creative processes and the determination to push myself as an artist and designer to create original and brilliant work.
